Spain. Barcelona Municipal Police Motorcyclist’s Cap Badge.

The Barcelona Municipal Police operated under this name from 1953 until 1978, when it reverted to the name Guardia Urbana de Barcelona (Barcelona City Police).

This badge belonged to the Motorised Corps or motorcycle section of the Municipal Police. At the time, it was a relatively small unit whose motorcycles included the Sanglas 400.

Sanglas was founded by the brothers Javier and Martín Sanglas, engineering students from Barcelona. Its first factory was located in the Poblenou district of Barcelona. As production increased, reaching approximately 500 motorcycles per year, the company moved to more modern premises in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, where the Sanglas 400 was manufactured.
