Description
Italy.
Italian M33 or M1933 helmet with Carabinieri Reali front decal (without Vittorio Emanuele’s EV in the center, either due to wear or removed during the Repubblica Sociale Italiana period) and remains of side decals (these were added late in the war in the RSI).
The helmet is marked “B 193”, in reference to the manufacturer from Bassano del Grappa. The interior is marked “S.MAGGIANI & C. TORINO 1942”, the name of the manufacturer and the year. On the inside it has the marking “AT” with a royal crown, from the Turin Arsenal.
The original chinstrap has the initials LM painted on it, surely they were those of its wearer.
