Spain. Africa medal of 1912. Alfonso XIII period.
Created by Royal Decree of September 8, 1912. The medal was awarded, without clasp, to those who had rendered meritorious services to Spain in the following cases, always excluding those who had already given the right to use the commemorative medal for the campaigns of the Rif created in 1910: belonging for two years without interruption to a Spanish sheriff police force, permanence for an uninterrupted period of four years, since July 1, 1909, in the Spanish possessions of North Africa or in any of the territories of the African continent or permanence of two consecutive years in the Spanish possessions of the Gulf of Guinea, without being a native of them or of any of the intertropical African territories, or four years being a native of one or the other. In addition, it could be granted, with or without a pass, to those who, not being included in any of the previous cases, would deserve it as a reward for specified services, as long as they had contributed to the development and progress of Spain’s civilizing action on the African continent .
