United Kingdom. Distinguished Service Order (DSO) of the period of George V.
The Distinguished Service Order is a British military decoration awarded to British Army Officers for meritorious or distinguished service in wartime, mostly in combat. During George V period only 9,900 DSOs were awarded.
British medal made of silver gilt and enamels. On the obverse, the golden imperial crown surrounded by laurels and a red background. On the reverse, the Royal Cypher GVR (George V Rex) with laurels.
A small part of the enamel on the reverse is deteriorated.
