United Kingdom. British Mk II helmet made in 1939 and painted with the W for Warden’s Air Raid Precaution. The ARP (Air Raid Precautions) were the organizations in charge of protecting civilians from air raids by the Luftwaffe. Air Raid Wardens’ Service was one of the organizations in charge of organizing civil defense against possible air attacks after the alarmism generated in the United Kingdom by the bombing of Guernica.

The helmet is the Mark II model marked and manufactured by RO & Co. (Rubery Owen & Co. of Darlesto, England) in 1939.

The interior is the Mark I model with the oval padding, marked and manufactured by J.C.S. & W. Ltd. (J. Compton Sons & Webb Ltd. of London, England) in 1939.

The chin strap is the Mark I model, with the rectangular Mark III anchors introduced in 1939.

The inside is also marked with the owner’s initials “P.W.P.”

Helmet and paint are originals.
