Used in the .30–06 U.S. Garand rifle. M1 rifle, and in the M1903 and M1903A3 .30–06 caliber rifles.
In 1942 the M1905 bayonets were reduced to 10-inch and designated the M1905E1. M3 16-inch scabbards were also shortened to M7 length. The shorter blade was found to be very satisfactory and was adopted as standard in early 1943, designated the M1 Bayonet.
