Germany III Reich. Long KS98 dress bayonet for Non-Commissioned Officers.
During the First World War, the 1920s, and especially during the Third Reich (1930s and World War II), the private purchase of dress bayonets by NCOs became widespread. These bayonets had a higher quality finish (nickel-plated or made with zinc alloys) but with unsharpened blades, as they were intended for parades or ceremonies rather than combat.
This example is a long model (25 cm blade), with no manufacturer’s markings and a black leather frog. The grip is made of a zinc alloy, so it was likely manufactured after 1935. The bayonet is of the S84/98 type for the Mauser Kar 98k rifle.
