Imperial Austria. Badge for the Cartridge Cae of the Army. Austro-Hungarian Empire Era. Used during World War I. Pre-1918.
The insignia for the cartridge box of the Austro-Hungarian Army (Österreich KuK Adler Doppeladler Abzeichen für den Kartuschkasten) is a military piece worn on the cartridge box, the ammunition holder used by soldiers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This insignia featured the double-headed eagle (Doppeladler), a distinctive symbol of the Empire, representing the shared hegemony between the two founding nations of the Empire: Austria and Hungary. The insignia was used by the armed forces of the Austro-Hungarian Empire before its dissolution in 1918 and was placed on the front of the cartridge box to identify soldiers of the imperial army.
