Spain. Badge of the Motorized Brigade of the UGT from the Spanish Civil War badge. It represents a Harley Davidson motorcycle with the acronym UGT, General Union of Workers, on the fuel tank.
It could be an insignia of «La Motorizada,» a Spanish socialist militia created in Madrid after the victory of the Popular Front and made up largely of members of the UGT (Union of Workers’ Unions) and its youth. Its main function was to escort Indalecio Prieto, although two of its leading members took part in the kidnapping and murder of the monarchist leader José Calvo Sotelo.
Photographs from the Historical Archive of the PCE (Communist Party of Spain): members of the motorized brigade with the badge on their caps and shirts.
Original Republican badge from the Spanish Civil War.
