Commemorative badge associated with the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition, held from 20 May 1929 to 15 January 1930 during the reign of King Alfonso XIII. The exposition was centred on Montjuïc and brought about major architectural and urban developments in the city.
The badge is manufactured from bronze-coloured metal or brass, decorated with fired enamel, and takes the form of a lapel or buttonhole pin, intended as a commemorative souvenir of the event.
Its design incorporates a stylized representation of the traditional coat of arms of Barcelona, featuring the Catalan stripes and the crosses of Saint George. The central composition depicts a classical or heraldic figure holding a sceptre or ceremonial staff, integrated into the ornamental design.
The upper section is surmounted by a royal crown, reflecting the monarchical symbolism of the period, topped by a bat (rat penat), a heraldic element historically associated with traditional representations of Barcelona and the former Crown of Aragon.
The badge represents an example of the commemorative objects and heraldic imagery associated with the 1929 International Exposition, one of the most significant events in Barcelona during the first third of the twentieth century.
