Belgian commemorative medal dedicated to the liberation of the city of Liège on 8 September 1944, during the Second World War.
This distinction was awarded after the end of the conflict to Belgian military personnel who participated in the operations to liberate the city, as well as members of the Belgian Resistance who contributed to the struggle against German occupation.
The medal bears the signature of Louis Dupond, its designer.
The city of Liège also had a commemorative medal associated with events of the First World War, featuring a completely different design. The 1944 liberation version is considerably less frequently encountered on the military collectibles market.
