Portugal. Portuguese helmet model 917/30. Portuguese helmet based on the British Mark 1 model and manufactured in the United Kingdom by Hadfields Ltd. (marking «HS») in the 1930s. The «259» indicates the batch number. These helmets were used by the volunteers of the Portuguese Legion (Legiao Portuguesa) during the Spanish Civil War in support of the National side. After the war they were reused to form part of the Territorial Civil Defense (D.C.T.). It has the original liner and chinstrap. It only retains part of the front insignia.
