Catalan Nationalist Movement Cufflinks, Second Republic or Spanish Civil War
Pair of cufflinks associated with the Catalan nationalist movement, used during the Second Spanish Republic or the Spanish Civil War.
Designed to be worn with dress shirts, these cufflinks offered a discreet way for the wearer to express identification with or support for the Catalan nationalist movement of the period. They could also be the Unió Catalanista, a Catalanist political group formed in Barcelona in 1891, from the union of various Catalanist unions and associations that came into contact as a result of the resistance against article 15 of the civil code which they considered to be an attack on Catalan civil law.
