Obverse: Portrait of Mao Zedong. Chinese inscription: At the bottom, the phrase «永远忠于毛主席» (Yǒngyuǎn zhōng yú Máo zhǔxí) is found, which translates as: «Always faithful to Chairman Mao.» Red background: The red color is a communist and revolutionary symbol associated with the Communist Party of China.
Reverse: Date (1968年10月1日): The inscription shows the date «1968年10月1日» (October 1st, 1968), during the period of the Cultural Revolution. Factory or region name (鲁): At the bottom, a character is included that might refer to the production region or factory. «鲁» is commonly associated with Shandong Province.
