The Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem is an honorary order of chivalry.
After the turbulent times preceding the modern era, the Order of Saint Lazarus endured, unlike some other military orders of chivalry that disappeared. It is currently represented in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, and Spain. On June 26, 1935, the Order registered its statutes in Spain. On May 9, 1940, it was officially recognized and declared to be of public utility throughout the national territory, by an order published in the Official State Gazette on the 10th of the same month.
