Croatia. Croatian Ustacha Patriotic Cross. Balkan War. This model was created at the beginning of the war by militiamen of the HOS Hrvatske Obranbene Snage.
Its shield starts with the white square, which was the same shield used by Ante Pavelić during the Independent State of Croatia governed by the Ustasha movement.
In 1990, Croatian nationalists used the same shield, but Franjo Tuđman imposed the shield with the first square in red to distinguish it from the one used during World War II.
