Third Czechoslovak Republic. Czechoslovakia. Commemorative insignia of the Victory of Communism 1948. Vítězství 1948. Made of aluminum.
As a consequence of the February 1948 coup d’état, the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia came to power with the support of the Soviet Union, and the country was declared a people’s republic after the May New Constitution came into effect.
The traditional name of Československá republika (Czechoslovak Republic) was not changed until July 11, 1960, following the implementation of the Czechoslovak Constitution of 1960, as a symbol of the «final victory of socialism» in the country, and it remained that way until the Velvet Revolution.
