Spain. Medal or Cross of the Twenty-Five Years of Peace, 1939–1964
Also known as the XXV Years of Peace Cross or the Franco Peace Medal.
The 25 Years of Peace Medal (1939–1964) was awarded to members of the Movement and was created by the General Secretariat of the Movement on 13 October 1963, during an assembly of the Unión Nacional de Excombatientes, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the regime of Francisco Franco.
The first examples were manufactured in a single piece. Initially, in 1964, it could only be worn by active-duty military personnel who had received it through the Hermandad de Excombatientes. Over time, however, its use on the military uniform was prohibited, and it could thereafter be worn in civilian dress.
To obtain it, it was necessary to pay a membership fee to the Brotherhood, which was the entity responsible for awarding it.
In later years, this three-piece version appeared, with a front and rear button fixed to the cross, of higher quality and manufactured with fire enamel.
