France. WW2 French Adrian Model 1926 Helmet of the Passive Defense.
The French Passive Defense, created in 1935 and expanded in 1938, aimed to protect the civilian population from air raids. In Paris, it was under the authority of the Prefect of Police and included the 2nd Passive Defense Regiment, a territorial reserve unit.
Organized by sectors and districts, the Passive Defense acted during alerts and bombings, supporting firefighters and the Red Cross. Its members, mostly civilians, wore a helmet, gas mask, and identifying armband. The activity of the Passive Defense intensified particularly in 1944, during the Allied bombings over the capital.
This example retains all its original parts: the exterior green paint, the black leather liner, and the leather chinstrap.
