Membership badge of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP) (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei), a political organization whose emblem was adopted in 1920. This badge identified party membership and was primarily worn on the lapel of civilian clothing.
The badge is circular and manufactured from enamelled metal, featuring a black swastika on a white background, surrounded by a red ring bearing the inscription “NATIONAL-SOZIALISTISCHE D.A.P.”. Its design corresponds to the standard NSDAP membership badge.
The reverse retains its lapel pin fastening and bears the marking “RZM M1/72”, identifying the manufacturer Fritz Zimmermann of Stuttgart. The initials RZM refer to the Reichszeugmeisterei, the organization responsible for supervising and regulating the manufacture and distribution of official party badges and equipment.
These badges were produced by numerous authorized manufacturers, particularly from 1933 onwards, when the substantial increase in NSDAP membership created greater demand for party insignia.
