Germany. Seven-Decoration Medal Bar of a First World War Veteran

This seven-decoration medal bar brings together German and foreign awards associated with military service and participation in the First World War, alongside a Wehrmacht long-service award and the Sudetenland Medal with the Prague Castle bar. The combination reflects a service record spanning Imperial Germany, the interwar period and the early years of the National Socialist regime.

The bar includes the following decorations:

• Iron Cross 2nd Class, 1914 (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse), a German military decoration reinstated at the beginning of the First World War.
• Frederick Augustus Medal in Silver (Friedrich-August-Medaille), from the Kingdom of Saxony.
• Honour Cross of the World War 1914–1918 (Ehrenkreuz des Weltkrieges 1914/1918), a commemorative decoration instituted in 1934 for participants in the war.
• Wehrmacht Long Service Award, 4th Class, for four years of service (Wehrmacht-Dienstauszeichnung IV. Klasse für 4 Jahre).
• Commemorative Medal of 1 October 1938, known as the Sudetenland Medal, with the Prague Castle bar (Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938 mit Spange Prager Burg), associated with the German occupation of the Czech territories in March 1939.
• Hungarian War Commemorative Medal (Magyar Háborús Emlékérem), awarded by Hungary in remembrance of participation in the First World War.
• Bulgarian Commemorative Medal for the War of 1915–1918 (Възпоменателен медал за войната 1915–1918), associated with Bulgaria’s participation in the First World War.

The medals bar retains its original label, bearing the text «Uniform-Ausrüstungsstücke» (uniform equipment or garments) and «DRESDEN-A 1, Schloßstr. 15» (the address of the manufacturer or supplier in Dresden, Germany—specifically, the former postal zone Dresden-A 1, at Schloßstraße 15).
