The Volkssturm, in Spanish: “fuerzas de asalto del pueblo” or simply “Tormenta del Pueblo” (People’s Storm), was the German national militia created in the final days of Nazi Germany, specifically on October 18, 1944, under the orders of Joseph Goebbels. All males between the ages of 16 and 60 were recruited and integrated into the plan for the defense of the հայրland, a total war against the advance of the Red Army in the east, and the Anglo-American troops in the west and south.
