He was born in April 1915 in Borna, Germany.
He enlisted in the Wehrmacht in 1935, and in August 1939 joined «A.O.K. 4» (4th Army High Command / 4th Army of the Wehrmacht) to take part in the invasion of Poland.
He was awarded the Wehrmacht Long Service Award, 4th Class (Dienstauszeichnung).
In July 1941, he joined «Lg. Nachr. Regt. 4» (Luftgau-Nachrichten-Abteilung 4, Communications Department of the 4th Air District), and continued serving in various Luftwaffe communications units until 1942. In September 1942, he was transferred to «Kfz. Werkstatkomp. 101/IV» (Motor Vehicle Workshop Company), where he remained until February 1945.
In 1943, he attained the rank of Feldwebel (Sergeant Major).
After the Second World War, he worked in various transportation companies.
