Germany, Third Reich. Edelweiss Sleeve Badge of the Gebirgsjäger (Mountain Troops) of the Waffen-SS
The Edelweiss is a flower known for growing in high mountain regions, which is why it became the symbol of mountain troops. In the German military, it was adopted by the Gebirgsjäger, the elite mountain infantry units. This embroidered patch, with a black background, is the model used by the Mountain Troops of the Waffen-SS.
Original insignia of the German SS from World War II.
