The General Assault Badge of the Wehrmacht (Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen) was a German military decoration instituted on June 1, 1940. Its purpose was to recognize participation in combat by mechanized infantry, artillery, assault engineers, anti-tank troops, and other support units that did not meet the requirements for the Infantry Assault Badge, which was reserved only for riflemen.
