Germany Third Reich. German Labour Front DAF Cap
German cap of the German Labour Front (German: Deutsche Arbeitsfront, DAF). It retains the sweatband embossed with oak leaves, the black leather chinstrap, and the cloth-covered side buttons, all typical features of this style of service cap.
The front insignia displays the emblem of the German Labour Front, consisting of a swastika surrounded by a cogwheel with an oak leaf wreath below. It is embroidered on a backing with a gilt metal frame. The reverse of the insignia bears the RZM (Reichszeugmeisterei, National Material Control Office of the NSDAP) marking and the manufacturer code 400.
The cap no longer retains its original manufacturer’s diamond, but it still bears the Deutsches Leder (LD) mark on the leather sweatband.
