Germany, Third Reich. German M35 Helmet of the Condor Legion (Legión Cóndor).
The helmet is a 1935 model painted in Luftwaffe blue. On the side, it bears the marking «E.T.» and a barely visible lot number, which reads «3X2X», indicating the manufacturer Eisenhüttenwerke.
The interior is an M31 leather liner with an aluminum band. It is marked «66 n. A. / 58», referring to helmet size 66 “neuer Art” (new model) for a head size 58. The leather liner has black-painted initials, likely belonging to the original owner.
The leather chinstrap is attached to the interior with rectangular aluminum loops, typical of early models.
Luftwaffe helmets assigned to the Condor Legion did not bear decals.
The Condor Legion was a military unit sent by Nazi Germany to support the Nationalist faction during the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939). Composed of pilots, technicians, and army personnel, their participation included aerial bombings. In addition to aiding Francisco Franco militarily, the Condor Legion served as a testing ground for new war tactics and weaponry later used in World War II.
