Germany Third Reich. Infantry Assault Badge in Bronze by Wilhelm Deumer
The Infantry Assault Badge (Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen) was instituted by Germany on December 20, 1939, to recognize the participation of infantry soldiers in direct ground assaults during World War II.
Its design, created by Wilhelm Ernst Peekhaus, features a Karabiner 98k with fixed bayonet positioned diagonally over an oval oak leaf wreath, surmounted by the national eagle.
This example is the Bronze Grade and was manufactured by Wilhelm Deumer of Lüdenscheid, unmarked variant.
Original German decoration from World War II.
