Germany Third Reich. Infantry Assault Badge in Silver by Otto Schickle
The Infantry Assault Badge (Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen) was instituted by Germany on December 20, 1939, to recognize the participation of infantry soldiers in direct ground assaults during World War II.
Its design, created by Wilhelm Ernst Peekhaus, features a Karabiner 98k with fixed bayonet positioned diagonally over an oval oak leaf wreath, surmounted by the national eagle.
This example is the Silver Grade and was manufactured by Otto Schickle of Pforzheim, hollow-back variant without maker marks.
