Germany Third Reich. M42 German Helmet with Textured Camouflage
German M42 model helmet retaining its original camouflage paint in green and brown tones. The camouflage has a textured finish, produced by mixing sand with the paint in order to reduce reflections from the metal surface.
The interior retains an M31-pattern liner, with a steel liner band, rounded chinstrap rings, and pigskin leather. These features are characteristic of liners used during the middle and later stages of the Second World War.
The interior bears the black ink marking «12 RBNr 0/1305/321 60». The RBNr. 0/1305 code (Reichsbetriebsnummer) belonged to a numbering system used to identify manufacturers and suppliers of equipment during the Third Reich. The number 60 refers to the liner size.
The stamped manufacturing markings on the inside of the shell are still present, although they are no longer legible.
