Germany, Third Reich. WW2 Ostvolk Medal 2nd Class in Silver with Swords (for Bravery), made of zinc.
The Medal for Gallantry and Merit for Members of the Eastern Peoples (German: Tapferkeits- und Verdienstauszeichnung für Ostvölker), established on 14 July 1942, was a Nazi decoration intended to recognize volunteers from the former Soviet Union who served alongside German forces. Commonly known as the Ostvolk Medal, it rewarded acts of bravery or meritorious service in both military and paramilitary roles, and could be awarded with swords (for bravery) or without swords (for merit). In addition, recipients could also receive other German decorations, and the award was open to both men and women, including nurses.
Original German decoration from the Second World War.
