Germany, Third Reich. Police Cap Badge. Troop Insignia. 2nd Model. Zinc. Marked on the reverse GGL by the Gebrüder Glörfeld firm, Lüdenscheid.
The «Polizei Schirmmützenadler für Mannschaften 2. Modell» is a cap insignia worn as part of the uniform by Police units during the Third Reich. This particular model is the second version of the troop insignia, made of zinc. The design of the eagle on these insignias was a symbol of the power of the police and the Nazi state. The insignia was placed on top of the police cap and served as a distinctive element to identify members of the security forces.
This insignia is marked on the reverse with GGL, from the Gebrüder Glörfeld company of Lüdenscheid, a German manufacturer of medals and insignia during the Third Reich period.
