Merit Cross of the Bavarian War Veterans’ League (Bundesehrenzeichen, 2. Form des Bayerischen Kriegerbundes), a distinction awarded by the Bayerischer Kriegerbund, a German war veterans’ association, during the Weimar Republic period (1919-1933).
The organization brought together former servicemen and members of Bavarian military veterans’ associations, promoting comradeship, the preservation of military traditions and recognition of services rendered to the association.
The badge features a cross with a central oval medallion enamelled in light blue, depicting the characteristic seated Bavarian lion facing left and holding a shield bearing the traditional Bavarian lozenge pattern.
Surrounding the medallion is the German inscription “BAYERISCHER KRIEGERBUND – DEM VERDIENST”, meaning “Bavarian War Veterans’ League – For Merit”.
This example corresponds to the second pattern of the decoration and features a Steckkreuz construction, a pin-back breast cross with a vertical fastening pin on the reverse, designed to be worn directly on clothing.
