Military decoration of the Republic of Indonesia, known as the Satyalancana Kesetiaan, corresponding to the 2nd Class, awarded for 16 years of faithful and continuous military service in the Indonesian National Armed Forces (Tentara Nasional Indonesia, TNI).
Instituted in 1958, this decoration belongs to the Indonesian military awards system established to recognize loyalty, discipline, dedication and long service among members of the Armed Forces.
The medal features a circular shape with a scalloped or wavy edge and a silvered finish, characteristic of the second class of this decoration. The obverse bears the Indonesian national emblem, the Garuda Pancasila, depicting an eagle with outstretched wings holding the national shield and a scroll inscribed Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (“Unity in Diversity”).
The reverse bears the inscription “PRADJURIT SETIA XVI”, an Indonesian expression meaning “Faithful Soldier”, using the older spelling of the language. The Roman numeral XVI indicates the 16 years of recognized service. The inscription is surrounded by a vegetal wreath of rice stalks and cotton branches, traditional symbols of prosperity and social justice in Indonesian national iconography.
The medal is suspended from a light blue ribbon with a dark blue central stripe, the distinctive ribbon design associated with this decoration.
The Satyalancana Kesetiaan was awarded in different classes according to the length of military service. The 8-year award was associated with a bronze finish, while the 16-year award featured a silvered finish. Higher categories recognized longer periods of service.
Unlike campaign medals, awarded for participation in military operations, this decoration rewarded loyalty and length of service, recognizing the recipient’s military career.
