Military decoration of the Republic of Indonesia, known as the Satyalancana Teladan, awarded to members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (Tentara Nasional Indonesia, TNI) in recognition of meritorious service, loyalty, discipline and exemplary conduct in the performance of their military duties.
The decoration is made of bronze and features a distinctive five-sided, pentagonal shape, with a raised composition of military and national symbols.
The obverse bears the inscription “PRAJURIT UTAMA”, an Indonesian expression which may be translated as “Outstanding Soldier” or “First-Class Soldier”, referring to the professional qualities and distinguished conduct of the recipient.
The central emblem features a stylized representation of the Garuda eagle, accompanied by an anchor and a star, symbolizing the connection with the Armed Forces, service to the nation and the values of the Indonesian military institution.
The medal is suspended from a ribbon featuring vertical white and yellow stripes combined with a deep blue-violet central stripe, characteristic of this decoration.
The Satyalancana Teladan belongs to the military awards system established by the Republic of Indonesia to recognize the individual merits of members of its Armed Forces.
Unlike campaign medals, which reward participation in specific military operations, this decoration recognizes exemplary conduct, dedication to duty and professional excellence among military personnel.
The award reflects the importance placed by the Indonesian Armed Forces on discipline, responsibility, institutional loyalty and outstanding performance of military duties.
