Badge, insignia or plaque of the Army Corps of Castile. Officer’s version, hand-embroidered. Used during the Spanish Civil War by officers of the Nationalist Army.
The Army Corps of Castile was a unit of the rebel faction created in October 1937 as a mobile reserve, under the command of General José Enrique Varela. Initially intended for the offensive against Madrid, it was sent to the Teruel front, where it took part in heavy fighting until the city was recaptured in February 1938.
It later participated in the Aragon offensive and, subsequently, in the Levante offensive with the aim of capturing Valencia. However, strong Republican resistance and the defenses of the XYZ Line halted its advance.
Finally, in March 1939, it took part in the final offensive that ended the Civil War with the victory of the Nationalist side.
