Iraq. Pilot Student Wings from the Monarchy period (1953-1958).
These Pilot Student wings were created to imitate the pilot wings of the United Kingdom, the country that held the regency of Iraq until the Kingdom of Iraq was established in 1921.
They belong to the final period of the monarchy, during the reign of King Faisal II, who was overthrown and assassinated on July 14, 1958, by the Free Officers’ Committee, led by General Abdul Karim Qasim, who established a republic with Arab nationalist and socialist inspirations.
