Italy. The Italo-Turkish War Medal 1911–1912 (in Italian Medaglia commemorativa della guerra italo-turca 1911-1912) is a decoration of the Kingdom of Italy created to commemorate military participation in the war against the Ottoman Empire.
With the mark of the sculptor L. Giorgi.
The Italo-Turkish War (1911–1912) pitted Italy against the Ottoman Empire for control of territories in North Africa.
As a result, Italy occupied:
Tripolitania
Cyrenaica
Fezzan
These territories would later form Italian Libya.
It was a brief but significant colonial war, as it consolidated Italian expansion in Africa and anticipated certain military aspects later seen in the First World War (such as the use of aviation).
