Japan. China Incident War Medal with soldier’s name on the box, 1937–1945
The China Incident War Medal (支那事変従軍記章, Shina jihen jūgun kishō) was a Japanese military decoration established on July 27, 1939, by Imperial Edict No. 496. Its purpose was to recognize the participation of both military personnel and civilians in the Second Sino-Japanese War, a conflict that took place between July 7, 1937, and September 2, 1945.
This decoration was abolished in 1946 by Government Ordinance No. 177, in the context of the Allied occupation of Japan following the end of World War II.
