In February 1949, the “Regiment of the Guard of His Excellency the Head of State” was officially established, incorporating this unit.
The Moorish Guard was disbanded in January 1958, in the context of the Ifni War and attacks by the Moroccan Army of Liberation against the Spanish territories of Ifni and the Sahara. To avoid incidents during its dissolution, its members were reportedly moved away from El Pardo under the pretext of firing exercises before being repatriated.
In 1975, following Franco’s death and the restoration of the monarchy, the unit became part of the new Royal Guard.
