Portugal. Portuguese M937 bayonet manufactured in Germany.
In 1937, Germany produced the Mauser m/937 rifles for the Portuguese Army along with their corresponding M937 bayonets. These bayonets could also be used with the Kar 98k rifles that Portugal acquired from Germany.
This bayonet is a copy of the German M1884/98 III bayonet from the Second World War, but unlike those, the Portuguese versions did not carry a manufacturer’s marking. This bayonet has no maker’s mark on the blade but does feature the serial number «D 2509» on the grip, the Waffenamt «WaA» on the tip of the scabbard, and the characteristic Portuguese M937 marking «F 94» on the scabbard’s frog stud.
In very good condition, retaining its original bluing.
Bayonet length: 40.7 cm
Length without scabbard: 38.6 cm
Blade length: 25.3 cm
