United Kingdom. British Brown Bess India Pattern bayonet manufactured by Wheeler Chapman between 1804 and 1830.
Socket bayonet «India Pattern» or Indian Model. It was called India Pattern because of the East India Company Musket, which during the Napoleonic Wars was exported to Europe due to the need for muskets and bayonets.
It bears the marking «WHEELER» referring to the manufacturer Wheeler Chapman, the number «51» under a crown (an acceptance mark, not a year), and the serial number.
