The rivet marks on the handle indicate it as a Mk. I Type 2.
The handle is marked «R.M,» a reference to the Royal Marines. The leather scabbard, with its attached leather forg, is characteristic of the type of bayonet used by the Royal Marines and the Navy and is marked «N,» a reference to the Navy. It has small spots of white paint.
The guard has the serial number «993.»
The blade has the markings «WD»: War Department acceptance mark, «(crown) 66 E»: the Enfield manufacturer’s Royal Small Arms Factory (R.S.A.F.), and «X»: the bending test mark. On the other side, it has «V.R. 91»: Victoria Regina (Queen Victoria) and the year of manufacture 1891.
