United Kingdom. British Italy Star and France and Germany Star Medal Group with Ribbon Bar
A British medal group comprising the Italy Star and the France and Germany Star, together with their corresponding ribbon bar, all awarded to the same serviceman for his service during the Second World War.
The Italy Star was instituted by the United Kingdom to recognize service in the Italian Campaign between 1943 and 1945, including operations in Sicily, mainland Italy, the Aegean Sea, and the Balkans.
The France and Germany Star was awarded to personnel who served in the campaign in North-West Europe, including the Normandy landings, the liberation of France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, and the final campaign into Germany between 1944 and 1945.
The group is completed by the matching ribbon bar, intended for wear on the service uniform in place of the full-size medals.
