Russia, Russian Federation. Badge of the Vepr K-157 Nuclear Attack Submarine.
Badge dedicated to the K-157 “Vepr”, an Akula-class nuclear-powered attack submarine. The lower red ribbon bears the inscription “ВЕПРЬ” (“Vepr”, meaning wild boar), the submarine’s name, represented by the fierce-looking boar’s head in the centre.
It also bears an inscription referring to the City of Severodvinsk, an important shipbuilding centre and home to the Sevmash shipyard where the submarine was built.
The dates “1916 | 1994” are also displayed; 1994 corresponds to the year in which the K-157 Vepr was launched. The upper section features the Cross of Saint Andrew, the traditional symbol of the Russian naval ensign.
