The SA march in Braunschweig, on October 17-18, 1931, in the presence of Adolf Hitler, represented the largest paramilitary demonstration during the Weimar Republic. Tens of thousands of SA and SS members from all over Germany participated in this Nazi show of strength. Some contemporary reports cite as many as 104,000 participants. Parallel street battles between SA members and communists resulted in two deaths and 61 injuries.
