Sword of the Municipal Police of Barcelona. Circa 1873.
Fitting: The fitting is made of silver-plated brass, with a wooden handle covered in sandpaper and wired with copper thread. The knuckle guard is continuous, with a small pommel, and the guard ring extends into a flat base, on which an open hilt is formed, representing a snake. The quillon points toward the spine of the blade.
Blade: It has a slight curve and two parallel channels close to the spine that run along its entire length. It bears the royal crest from the time of Alfonso XII, Toledo Factory, and the date 1873. The fuller is almost imperceptible. On the inside, the spine is rounded up to the tip, which features a counter-edge. On the outside, the spine extends to about half, with a sharp edge to the point.
