The Order of Merits for the People was a decoration of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia awarded for special merits in the construction of socialism and socialist self-government, for organizing and consolidating the country’s national defense, security, and independence, as well as for merits in the fields of economics, science, and culture. It was established on June 9, 1945, in three classes.
