Republic of South Africa. Unitas Medal. Miniature. Without ribbon. South African medal created in 1994 after the Apartheid period. The Unitas Medal was instituted by the President of the Republic of South Africa on 4 November 1994. It was awarded to all ranks that formed part of the seven constituent military forces between 27 April and 10 May 1994, to commemorate their amalgamation with the South African National Defence Force. It was also awarded to personnel of the British Military Advice and Training Team serving in South Africa at that time.
