Soviet Union (USSR). M43 Soviet Navy Officer’s Cap, 1950s
This Soviet Navy officer’s service and dress cap is the Model 1943, an evolution of the pattern first introduced in 1939, incorporating minor modifications made in 1940 and 1943. It remained in service until the 1950s, when it was replaced by the Model 1954.
The front badge is constructed in five separate pieces, featuring embroidered bullion thread and a red enamel star with the hammer and sickle. Later versions were simplified, using less expensive materials and aluminum insignia.
The interior bears the manufacturer’s marking К.Н. Самойловой (K. N. Samoylova), a military uniform factory located in Leningrad.
